Under contract with the City of Medina, Euthenics provided survey, hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, structure type evaluation, roadway and bridge design, utility coordination, right-of-way support, and final construction plans for ODOT PID 120263, the South Huntington Street Bridge over Champion Creek in Medina, Ohio. The existing two-lane bridge was a 42-foot single-span concrete box-beam bridge with a 24-foot curb-to-curb roadway and sidewalks. The final replacement maintains two 12-foot lanes and provides 7-foot-6-inch sidewalks with 8-inch curbs and railings sized for MASH-compliant protection. The proposed superstructure is a 48-foot single-span arrangement of ten adjacent CB17x48 prestressed concrete box beams with a 6-inch composite reinforced-concrete deck, a 41-foot-4-inch out-to-out deck width, no skew, and a 1-inch monolithic concrete wearing surface. Cast-in-place reinforced-concrete semi-integral abutments on spread footings founded on shale support the bridge. Euthenics surveyed Champion Creek and completed hydraulic and scour evaluations for the design and check storms. The hydraulic analysis documented improved headwater and upstream water-surface elevations compared with existing conditions and concluded that the proposed replacement met the applicable ODOT hydraulic requirements and no-rise scope. Utility coordination and final design addressed relocation or protection of the 8-inch VCP sanitary sewer beneath the bridge, waterline, storm sewer, underground telecommunications, gas, electric, and overhead facilities. Euthenics also prepared maintenance-of-traffic and detour plans and coordinated the final roadway, right-of-way, and utility plan packages.
